Why am I interning at Networking WA?
I am a recent Arts Management Graduate from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, with a previous Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia. Throughout my time at UWA I was heavily involved in organising social events for students, sometimes for as many as 2000 people. This is when I realised I had a passion for event management and all that it entailed, including the networking, engagement and organisation involved.
The next logical step for me was to get a relevant qualification behind me, and through my research I found the Arts Management degree at WAAPA to be the most hands on and industry involved.
I currently work in Marketing and Communications at ECU, in particular with future student events, but I am always looking for opportunities to expand my skills and experience. I was drawn to working with Networking WA by the fact that their offerings are as creative and varied as are their clients. I love to meet new people and try new things, so to me this seemed like a great fit.
Trough out my studies I completed a number of Internships to support my theoretical knowledge, but I am very excited to be starting this Internship with Networking WA as the staff strike me as the perfect balance between professional, creative and fun. I believe that they have a lot to offer me in terms of knowledge and experience, and I plan to support their operations as best I can while absorbing as much as possible.
